WHY THIS COURSE
Western floral tooling isn't something you pick up casually. It's a craft that requires specific skills, proper technique, and a solid foundation.
Kailey teaches complete fundamentals. Not shortcuts.
You'll learn to identify leather types, prep correctly, design original patterns, use a swivel knife with confidence, understand what each stamp does and why, and finish work with dye, paint, and antique.

Maker. Mama. Ranch wife. Full-time leatherworker.

Kailey Klein is the force behind Magpie West Leather Co. She's been tooling leather full-time and running her business since 2016.
Her journey started in college, when a saddle-building roommate sparked her interest in the trade. She was completely hooked.
Throughout her 20s, Kailey carried her leather tools in an old trunk as she and her husband Cody lived and worked at pack stations, cow camps, and large ranches across the West. Those experiences, the landscapes, the people, the life, shaped her artistic vision.
Over the years, she's gained recognition for her unique style: blending colorful contemporary Western art scenes with traditional detailed floral elements. Creating highly sought-after, one-of-a-kind heirloom quality pieces is what keeps her fire burning.
Now, alongside raising two wild daughters and busy ranch life, Kailey dedicates herself to teaching. She's mostly self-taught and wishes she'd had access to the resources now available to beginners—so she's become that resource for the next generation.

Many discover they can create pieces worth selling—custom work people will pay premium prices for.
One-of-a-kind, tooled leather goods that become heirlooms.
Some turn it into a side business.
Others keep it as their creative outlet—the thing they do that's just theirs, separate from ranch work or parenting or day jobs.
All of them learn a timeless craft that connects them to Western tradition and creates work that lasts.
